Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, attended the first meeting of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Health Council, at the Princess Fatima Academy for Vocational Medical Education, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Lotayef, CEO of the Council, and all members of the council of Directors.
At the outset of the meeting, the minister stressed the importance of adhering to the time plans specified for the completion of setting all the foundations and controls regulating the work of the Egyptian Health Council, in order to quickly achieve optimal utilization of the state’s capabilities in all health fields in a more capable and organized manner, which would achieve the highest levels of safety for patients, within the framework of Vision «Egypt 2030», whose goals include that every Egyptian citizen enjoys a healthy, safe and secure life, through the implementation of an integrated health system.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population and the Egyptian Health Council, said that the minister stressed the importance of representing all concerned parties and bodies in the Egyptian Health Council Board of Directors, in a way that ensures the development of health practices, according to the different visions in this field.
Abdel Ghaffar added that the minister emphasized the importance of forming qualitative committees and scientific working groups, to achieve the goals of the Egyptian Health Council, in accordance with the timetables set for them, pointing to the importance of benefiting from the experiences of sister countries in this field, in a way that guarantees expanding horizons of joint action.
For his part, Dr. Lotayef said that the council aims to develop levels of medical and health training for doctors and workers in various medical specialties and for graduates of medical and health colleges, and to verify their qualification for safe medical and health practices, within the framework of the state's keenness to improve the health system, in accordance with the important health and medical policies of the state.
Lotayef added that the council aims to achieve integration and cooperation in all areas of health training between the council and the various scientific bodies and councils, in various medical specialties, inside and outside Egypt, in a way that ensures the achievement of international standards for safe health practices.
Lotayef emphasized that the Egyptian Health Council is concerned with setting the foundations and controls for training standards and trainers, approving scientific, vocational and health-specialized training programmes, and various training venues with their various dependencies, and unifying the awarding body for the Egyptian board certificate so that it becomes the donor for it, pointing out that the council is concerned with setting standards, procedures and rules. Examinations for granting a license to practice medical professions and the Egyptian Board and supervising them, in coordination with the competent authorities, as determined by the Executive Regulations of the Council, as well as organizing work within the project to standardize the guidelines for various diseases, and developing training programs for the specialized medical teams, to qualify and train them on these guides. This is done through scientific committees and specialized committees.
