Law 12 of 2022 entrusted the Egyptian Health Council to develop guidelines for the health specialties that fall under the law. In accordance with the recent transformation of the health system that Egypt has witnessed, it has become urgent to develop and adapt national medical guidelines to ensure that they are in line with international standards supported by a strong evidence base. Most importantly, the mandate in the law aims to unify the provision of services in all health care facilities as a basic pillar of global health and to comply with comprehensive health coverage under the leadership of the Egyptian Health Council, and coordination and negotiation with the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes.
Accordingly, a workshop was held on Sunday, September 10, 2023, to develop a roadmap for national medical guidelines in the Arab Republic of Egypt, in the presence of:
Professor Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Lotayef Executive President of the Egyptian Health Council.
Dr. Muhammad Mustafa Abdel Ghaffar, Chairman of the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes.
Dr. Naima Al-Qaseer, Representative of the World Health Organization in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Dr. Arash Rashidian, Director of Scientific Information and Publishing at the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean.
Professors from various medical faculties in Egyptian universities and doctors from the General Authority for Hospitals, Educational Institutes, the Ministry of Health and Population, and police hospitals, representing the following medical specialties, participated in the workshop:
